Top Winter Events in Metro Detroit

Snow Angels
Let's face it, winter isn't everyone's favorite time of year to go out and about. The problem is that most of us Detroit natives miss out on a lot of cool things to do when we stay wrapped up in our blankets.
It's time to throw on the heavy-duty parka and get out of the house. I promise, you won't want to miss out on these upcoming winter events going on downtown.
Upcoming Winter Events in Metro Detroit (H2)
Plymouth Ice Festival (H3)
Ice Scuplture Carving
I think it's crazy how people can cut ice blocks into the shapes and statues I've seen at the Plymouth Ice Festival.
From January 8th to January 10th, take the family out to the annual ice festival and see some of the craziest ice sculptures you'll ever see. There's interactive ice carvings, an ice playground, and even a freakin' dueling chainsaw competition. I'll let your imagination (or how high you are right now) convince you to get over there on that one.
The Plymouth Ice Festival event times are as follows:
  • Jan. 11th - 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Jan. 12th -  12 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Jan. 13th - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
North American International Auto Show (H3)
Concept Car Detroit Auto Show
The 2019 North American International Auto Show is going to be dope, I guarantee it. Out of all the things to do in Detroit in the winter, the auto show at Cobo Hall has always one of my favorites.

Detroit is where the future of mobility meets the pavement, so it's only fitting that the auto show takes place in the Motor City. From January 14th to January 27th, you've got the chance to see some of the coolest concept cars in the city the auto industry first got it's booming start.

With the most innovative auto designers and engineers on the team, the Detroit Auto Show serves as the best stage to promote new brand-defining cars and industry-shaping news reports.

If you haven't been to the auto show before, get your booty down there this year. You're missing out.

Meridian Winter Blast

Down at Campus Martius, Quicken Loans and many other sponsors host the Meridian Winter Blast event. This event has a ton of stuff to do, so make sure to check out their site for a list of specific events, times, and dates.

To sum it up, the Meridian Winter Blast is separated into four different festival weekends:
  1. Weekend #1 hosted by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort (Jan. 19th-21st)
  2. Weekend # 2 hosted by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort (Jan. 25th-27th)
  3. Weekend #3 hosted by Delta Dental (Feb. 8th - 10th)
  4. Weekend #4  hosted by Delta Dental (Feb. 15th - 17th)
Each event has many different activities to be a part of, and you'll find the listings on their site in the overview section. Or better yet, just head over one weekend and see what's up.

These are just a couple things you can do this winter in the Metro Detroit area, but I'm sure that there are a lot more events going on. Just get out there and check it out.

And don't forget to smoke good and love life.
